Cookie Policy

This policy explains how indiepump.space uses cookies and similar technologies.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help a website work and remember your session.
Cookies we use
- Strictly necessary – WordPress session and login cookies that keep you signed in and secure your requests. The site cannot function without these.
- Functional – remember preferences such as light or dark theme.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Third parties
If you sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies as part of the sign-in process, governed by Google’s privacy policy.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings, but strictly necessary cookies are required to sign in and vote.

Tracking links and click measurement
Game developers on IndiePump can create short tracking links for their titles. They look like https://indiepump.space/go/example, and they get shared on social media, in newsletters and in press kits. When you follow one, we record the click and send you straight on to the destination.
These links do not set a cookie. They do not use device fingerprinting, and they do not create any identifier that follows you to other websites. Everything listed below is recorded once, on our own server, at the moment you click.
- The date and time of the click.
- Where you came from — the referring website, when your browser sends one. Email apps and most chat apps do not.
- Your browser, operating system and device type (for example “Chrome, Windows, desktop”) and your preferred language, all read from the request your browser already sends us.
- An approximate location — country, region and city, worked out from your IP address as described below. This is not GPS and it does not identify an address.
- The campaign tags (UTM parameters) the developer attached to that particular link.
- A one-way fingerprint of your IP address and browser, produced with a secret key that never leaves our server. It lets us tell a repeat click apart from a new visitor. It cannot be reversed back into your IP address.
How your IP address is handled
Your IP address is personal data, so we keep it only for as long as it takes to look up your country and city. In practice that is a few minutes: the address is stored, a scheduled job resolves the location, and the address is erased in the same operation. Anything that cannot be resolved is erased automatically within 24 hours. Your IP address is never kept alongside the click record permanently.
To turn an IP address into a country and city we send it to ipwho.is, a geolocation provider acting as our processor. They receive the IP address and nothing else — no name, no email, and no information about who you are.
What the developer sees
The developer whose link you clicked sees totals and charts only: how many clicks, from which countries and cities, on what kinds of device, in what language, and where the traffic came from. They never see your IP address and they cannot identify you as an individual.
Automated traffic
When a link is posted in Discord, Slack, WhatsApp or an email, those services fetch it automatically to build a preview. We label such requests as automated and exclude them from every figure we report, so developers are not misled by traffic that was never a person.
How long the click record is kept
Click records on free developer accounts are kept for 30 days and are then removed.
Your choices
Because no cookie is involved, there is nothing to switch off in your browser. If you would rather not be counted, go to the developer’s destination page directly instead of using the short link. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it erased, write to gamehorizongr@gmail.com.
